Just the other day I went to the post office to post a letter. It’s been a while since I last did that - what with the age of e-mail and everything - but anyway, I was surprised to find that something seems to have changed about stamps in the UK

This was very interesting to discover! We've had the sticker-type ones here for a long, long time ... nearly 20 years maybe? We still have a mixture though, as the lickable ones do still exist also... but the primary ones are now sticker ones.

...and we are asked to at least 'write' AirMail/ParAvion on international mail if we don't have a rubber stamp or sticker for it.
