I Quit, But...

I'd had enough. I finally quit my job with 1-800-GOT-JUNK? It was time - I didn't need the extra money, I wasn't working with rad people any more (I was training all the time), and the dump strike was making the job more stressful than it oughta be. That, and I only had one day a week to myself since May 2nd, when I was hired for my bank job with ( Read more... )

This is bad of me to say, but REALLY if you're never going to use 1800GotJunk for a refrence, you could really not give them the full two weeks and just give them one...

I know, but I still have a sense of responsibility and respect that I want to try and adhere to, ya know?

Who knows, I may come crawling back some day. :p

you can take the long weekend off the junk job, be with me and not need days off work at the bank. That way you can still have days off at the end of the month if you want. I have more hospital stuff october 1 and could use some uninterupted tim time then.
The junk job has shown you little empathy. I would just tell them no. what are they going to do, fire you?

Tell you just won't be in and find someone to swap with. Worse coems to worse you can just say "I Quit" and walk away. Your area is right-to-work, right?

I think you giving two weeks' notice was the right thing (when I worked at Claire's, a HELLISH job, I gave them proper notice as well, even though I wanted to be out of there ASAP). However, if I were you, I would say that I could not work that day. Really, are you going to gain anything out of working that day? Have fun!!!

You did your duty by giving your two weeks notice, now they're going to try to milk you for every last bit of patience you have. I'd say no. If you know you could be doing MUCH BETTER things than moving people's shit from their backyards and basements, you'll regret the fact that you wasted a long weekend doing it.

Do NOT work for them.

Plus, for the BMO time off, I'm with Kat. Don't take it off now. You have a 3-day weekend that you deserve and that you won't be working this weekend, so save your BMO days off for her time in October. Spread the "time off" out a bit, ya know?
