I somehow missed the previous post about your surgery...

I'm glad you're doing better and that the surgery went well.

As far as stitching, it is just fine, dissolvable stitching. They make a knot and go through the tissue underneath the skin at first to get a good base and then they just zig zag right underneath the skin, close enough to the surface that when the thread is pulled tight, it closes up the wound. Subcutaneous stitching definitely took me the longest to become somewhat skilled at but it's the most popular stitching because patients can't see what the surgeon did on the inside so they often judge them by how nice the scar turned out and since this kind of stitching leaves smallest or no scars, it doesn't get much better than that.
Sorry for borring you with this. You asked. :)

no, no not bored at all. thanks for the explanation.

to me, this kind of stitching is really important, because as you said, it's the only visible evidence of the skill of the surgeon. and, there's no reason people should be walking around with horrible huge scars. to me, that is just lazy... you went through all the work to do the surgery, you might as well close the incision up as nicely as possible.

Awww I'm glad you're doing better!! Plastic surgery stitches rock my socks, they should be standard practice as far as I'm concerned. Woo hoo!!

And props to Howie (aka Martha) - give him a pat on the head for me :)

After a lot of pain and suffering I thought I had hernia last year.
it turned out to be something else. Glad you're on the road to recovery. Spring time is here.
