The 2012 Rhysling Anthology

Jul 20, 2012 19:23

I have a poem in The 2012 Rhysling Anthology, Lyn C. A. Gardner, ed., so I probably shouldn't go much into comparisons...
Anyway, this is the voting anthology for the Science Fiction Poetry Association's annual award, in "short form" and "long form." The votes are in and the winners have already been announced (no, I didn't win), but I only just now finished reading the long poems that didn't grab me in their first 30 lines.
The wide variety of subjects and types reminds one of how extensive is the realm of speculative poetry. I particularly noted Paul Park's use of an ancient Icelandic verse form to tell a SF tale of the future. Another poem responds to a Poe sonnet, yet another follows Gertrude Stein.
It was, of course, an honor to be included.
