I don't have the time right now (it's incredibly late and I should be asleep) but I just wanted to comment on the horrific nature of the VT shootings yesterday. I hadn't heard of it until a bit late but it was staggering to see the death count keep rising. Incredibly sick

You mean, you're one of those crazy right-wing nuts who thinks guns are good, that their presence acts as a deterrent? You're one of those crazy liberty-loving monsters?!

Anyway, I'm already tired of hearing about this story. It's going to dominate the news for far too long. Don't forget the attacks on violent media, which has already started. CNN "interviewed" a totally unbiased (right ...) author of a media-violence book last night about the shootings.

I'm pretty tired of it myself... luckily I can regulate my exposure to it since I don't watch television.

But yeah, gotta love Dr. Phil and Jack Thompson coming straight for videogames, especially. Good times.

Why does something like this always have to lead to everyone debating politics?

Because some people love to use these situations to further their political agenda, and especially on the internet one is compelled to respond due to ease of use and relative anonymity.

Also because debating politics can be intellectually stimulating? Maybe.
