[Private to Vanessa]

...

I propose we pretend that port never happened.

[Private to Arthas]

I'd like a word with you.

[Spam for Braxiatel]

[Narvin walks to Braxiatel's cabin and raps sharply on the door. Braxiatel wouldn't usually be his first choice of confidant. Or second, or third, or...well, let's not belabour the point. But he's the ( Read more... )

Oh, it happened.

[She hasn't been this angry since the curse thing, and it shows. Most of it's not directed at Narvin, but why give him something for free by elaborating?]

Well, yes, technically.

But it wasn't really us. I'm under no illusions that...that other girl is a reflection of some facet of your psyche or some other nonsense like that. And under normal circumstances I would never...ah...not that you aren't an aesthetically attractive young lady, but... [And this is why he'd rather pretend it never happened. So he doesn't have to talk about it.]

Obviously it wasn't me. [Slightly grudgingly:] Or you.

But I remember it. All of it. What she thought, what she knew...

So, we have detailed knowledge of these other people's thoughts and minds. It's nothing more than one could acquire from a particularly good interrogation session. [Except it *is* different, because it's their bodies as well as their minds, and in more vivid detail than psychic interrogation. But Narvin needs his coping strategies.]

[And Narvin, in turn, steps in as if he didn't really need the invitation and would have entered regardless.]

I think your decor is growing more and more pretentious by the day, Cardinal.

[When one is planning to fish for approval from a proper Gallifreyan, opening with an insult is always the best strategy, yes? Or at the very least, it's such an ingrained habit in his dealings with Braxiatel that he can't imagine greeting him any other way.]

Is that an archaic era Minyan vase over there? [Narvin's no art expert, but he's very slightly more likely to recognize Minyan work than that of other lost planets.]

Why would I want that? [Narvin's idea of decorating is to colour-code his files.

[Switches to audio so he's not at a disadvantage--seen without being able to see.]

This ship is hell, I understand that.

You can't leave yet, the Admiral won't let you. But Mr. Stone might be able to. I want you to help.

Mr. Stone needs to...[grow a backbone?]...practice expressing opinions of his own that run contrary to orders. I'd like you to solicit his help in killing someone, preferably someone he likes and already has empathy for, and then let him talk you out of it.
