.043 [Video] Post-Child Stress Disorder

Mar 31, 2011 22:32

I trust everyone understands that there were many things I said as a child that I wouldn't say now.

[This is Narvin's way of sort of vaguely apologizing for being an ass to...almost everyone he talked to at one point or another. Not that his older self doesn't think some of those things, but he has *slightly* more tact now.]

[Warden filter]Was ( Read more... )

time lords = repression, what is this friendship thing?

Someday this ship will turn you into a...an Androgum with a pathological fear of enclosed spaces and then you'll understand.

[Although this time is was still him, just younger, so he can't salve his dignity by using the excuse that the Barge warped his mind into something foreign.]

The Academy was a far more controlled environment than the Barge. At least it was when I attended it. [Once the aliens came...]

I pushed against it far less than you have in your lifetimes.

I didn't read old posts, but I did discover the CIA uniforms.

[Kay's been at his desk, staring at his computer, pretending that he didn't wake up and sprint back to his room and decide to hide there mostly silently for the rest of the day.

Bravery, it does not become him this evening.

After Narvin's settled for a bit, he allows an awkward silence because... the whole thing was awkward. Everything was awkward. Then, sort of mumbled, he says-] I think I should take it out of my head.

[Narvin looks up from his pondering of potables.]

Take what out?

[He leans forward, putting his chin in his hand and staring at his computer screen as he fiddles with the scroller on the mouse. ...He's actually playing pong right now.] My father's nickname. I can't neuralyze everyone, so making it meaningless to me might work. [Scroll. Stare. Scroll. He cares not for this non-corporeal entity right now. Ray's not here anymore with his proton pack

He misses Ray.]

[Narvin pauses to put together the unsaid pieces. "Slim" must be the nickname Kay's referring to. That he wants to make it meaningless means that it has special meaning now, meaning associated with his father and his childhood.]

You think someone other than me will realize that that boy was you?

Don't concern yourself. My younger self was quite used to it. You notice it didn't actually put him off? [He's still having trouble settling the new memories, so third person it is.]

Used to it or not, it was uncalled for.

Your apology is accepted, Narvin. At least we came out of it all right.

Yes. There was surprisingly little chaos, considering most of the wardens were essentially incapacitated. The inmates were feeling unambitious this week, I suppose.

But Narvin. Ignoring it would be like you not asking pointed questions when I'm flood affected, just to fish for information.

Oh, wait, you did that, didn't you?

You were even a neurotic, paranoid child. It was almost contagious.

although I did think Time Lords were born adults or something.

That's entirely different. During that earlier flood you came from a fairly recent point in time that was directly relevant to the situation here. Whereas what I might have thought over a thousand years ago is not remotely relevant.

You still took advantage of a flood. At least I didn't do it so blatantly.
