Aplasia Cutis Congenita

I wanted to make an update about Holden's dermatologist visit today. He has finally been diagnosed with Aplasia Cutis Congenita.I mentioned this some time ago after I had done my own research and found this. It is so rare, more rare than his multiple food allergies, heh. For a refresher, or for those new to my journal, Holden was born with 3 areas

I'm glad you were able to finally get a diagnosis. That is a long time to wait for answers.

it is, and if any one of the Dr.s would have listened to me, the mother, this wouldn't have taken nearly as long.
i am not sure you remember (and of course i didn't tag my entries in the past to link them in this entry..) but this particular Dr. saw pictures of this from our local dermatologist and he also diagnosed them as keyloid scars...sigh

Will his hair cover it as he gets older?

thats why i think it is nuts that doctors tend to tune the mom out..
and i think if his hair is long enough it may, i am not sure tho. i kinda does now but his hair is not all that thick yet.

As far as it being cosmetic ... what would it look like as he gets older? Will he always have those three spots with thinning hair on them?

yes, he will always have the spots but his hair will probably cover it. his hair is pretty thin all over but i think once it gets thicker you wont really notice it, although most people dont notice it unless i point it out.

I'm glad it's mostly cosmetic, and I do think his hair will grow over it, these are not huge patches from what I can see? Glad you have answers now!
