Distraught was a good way to describe how Gabranth was. He had failed Larsa and, considering the fact that he'd been summoned to stand before Vayne, he was quite aware of the possibility that his own life would be meeting an end. No doubt, Vayne was bitterly angry at him for failing protect the youngest Solidor, but Gabranth would willingly take his punishment.

He'd failed. He deserved his punishment.

Pushing open the door to Vayne's study, after being told not to wait and to simply enter, Gabranth removed his helmet the moment the door closed behind him with an ominous thud.

If he'd have been a weaker man, he'd have simply ran. It was Hume instinct to preserve your life but he owed that life to Larsa. It was nothing but fair that he would give it over to Vayne and allow the man to cut the thread if he so chose.

Upon Gabranth's entrance, Vayne rose to his feet, standing behind his desk. In silence. No glare, no angry outburst. Better for the judge had there been. Instead, there was the brutal punishment being handed out.

Judgment in silence.

The stillness became pervasive to the point of being painful, and had anyone been lingering outside to eavesdrop, they were likely to be disappointed. Vayne had no intention of doling out an infuriated tirade. No, he simply kept his gaze locked on Gabranth, expression devoid of anything telling.

And when he finally spoke, it was short, and to the point.

"Larsa is dead."

Vayne's silence was painful. It gave his mind the chance to go over every possible option Vayne had of dealing his punishment. Of course, the entire time, he kept his gaze upon his Lord, silent in return. He expected this. Vayne was never going to shout. At least not to begin with.

Silence was more brutal.

Yet, as those words finally came, they were a crippling blow. His head lowered, his eyes slipping closed for the briefest second only to find his feet a moment later.

"Aye, My Lord. 'Tis I who blame lays upon. Do as you will."

Resigning his life. Yet, there was something bittersweet about it. He would be free of the Empire's grasp. Death was not his want, but were it to be dealt out, he would take it with a smile. After all of his deads - framing his brother, killing innocent people, torturing his brother, murdering Drace, failing Larsa - death was but a fitting punishment.

Vayne folded his arms across his chest, not giving Gabranth the satisfaction of a quick death. No, he would know punishment before he knew the grave. He could, of course, repeat the duty of the Ministry of Law and emphasize their service to House Solidor. But that would cheapen this moment. Larsa deserved better.

"You are Judge Magister."

He would make the man choose and administer it. The sadistic side of him took great pleasure in this ideal. To make him suffer fully, before he perished.
