Characters: Ursula and Ceodore Progress: Complete Summary: An inspection/exploration of the Narshe Mines, complete with monsters and disaster. Location: Narshe Mines Date: March 1 Warnings: Violence
Ready? More like ready for another two hours in bed. Ceodore never did mornings well and was still abed. The knock irritated his consciousness enough to have him groggily roll over in the direction of the door with a soft grunt. Caught between dreaming and wakefulness, he forced his eyes to open just enough to peer at the door to see if that was a real sound or just part of the dream.
"Ursula?"
Maybe not. He grabbed his blankets and pulled them over his head.
Sigh. Ursula never quite understood how Ceodore could linger in the morning so. There were always things to be done; if not work, then training or something else. She had hoped to influence him during their stay in Narshe, but if so, it had yet to take root.
"The mines, remember? We were going to inspect them today."
"Yeah, I didn't forget." Ceodore groaned and rubbed his face, making himself sit up. He'd never ever understand Ursula's fascination with the early hours of the morning.
He threw back the blankets and winced at the blast of cold hitting his skin, as he swung his legs over the side of the bed. The fire had burned down in the night, leaving the room fall cooler than it had been when he'd retired for the evening.
Evidence that he'd become accustomed to life in Gaia appeared in the slow, relaxed method he took to gathering his gear and tugging on a shirt. Time wasn't a luxury they'd had before he'd arrived here, necessity forcing quick rests, little sleep and hasty morning routines. Or what qualified for morning when deep in the bowels of the moon. Rubbing the back of his head, he glanced over at Ursula with a sheepish smile. "I'll be ready right away."
Ursula just responded with a tolerant smile in kind and nodded. "Good. I'll meet you outside." She didn't want to distract him from getting ready, after all. And really, she wasn't annoyed. There's no point in nagging Ceodore about this when there wasn't a strict timetable for them today. The princess just wanted to get a head start because she could.
So, collecting her things and checking to make sure she wasn't leaving behind anything important, Ursula gave notice on her whereabouts and stepped outside. It was as cold as ever, of course, but she countered that with a bit of pacing. Besides, the chill only served to make her more awake and alert, something that could only serve her well in those mines.
