Fashionably late. Yes, that was Genesis. Sephiroth had to shake his head in amusement when he felt the familiar presence approaching. Some things never changed; it seemed the old mouthing was true indeed. Nevertheless, he didn't bother turning from his lounge at the bar, tumbler of clear alcohol at his elbow. He knew Rhapsodos would find him easily enough.

He needed answers. He needed to ask questions; needed to have everything make sense. Granted, neither of them were even in their former world, but from where Sephiroth stood, that Planet still ached with the tumultuous life lost upon it. And he'd tasted betrayal and found it bitter.

But there were different approaches to finding what one sought; a brute force attack wasn't always the best strategy. He'd learned that early on; and a clever tactician always left plenty of options to maneuver. Thus Sephiroth merely sat, and waited.

"I've kept you waiting." The soft murmur was accompanied by a brief touch, hand faintly squeezing Sephiroth's arm in silent apology. Though whatever sincerity the gesture held was soon lost, washed away by a smirk. He gracefully perched himself atop the bar stool beside Sephiroth, taking a moment to smooth down any unsightly creases in the butter-soft leather of his duster before turning to the other. Quirking an eyebrow in mild amusement and with audacity somehow sweetening his tone, he continued. "However, I'm sure you'll find it in your heart to forgive me ( ... )

Sephiroth didn't answer as Genesis approached, resolving instead to silence his tongue with sharp alcohol. It was familiar, achingly so; all that was missing was the third member of their triumvirate, the link which kept the two of them at opposite poles, carefully balanced.

But Angeal wasn't here, they weren't on their own world anymore, and things were different, so different. Yet nevertheless, Genesis was a breath of home, and Sephiroth relished it even thought his logical mind berated his emotions for indulging.

Choosing his words carefully, he slowly replied as the bartender refreshed his glass, "More has changed than you realize, Genesis." A pause, then Sephiroth said quietly, "Though here in this world, circumstances of our own still hold sway."

A leather-dressed fingertip absently traced the rim of his glace, mind elsewhere - in the past, merely a few hours before his ... departure. Everything was as it should have been. He had been on his way to meet both Sephioth and Angeal in the VR training rooms. As per every week while the Seconds were out on assignment, they had planned to sneak in another spar. Though as usual, Genesis had been the last to arrive. Somewhere between his living quarters and the training rooms something had gone terribly amiss, resulting in his never actually reaching the destination. Which begged the question, what had happened to those awaiting him? Why was one present but not the other?

"I feel it has." Genesis turns slightly to face the Sephiroth, resting his elbow upon the bar-top and cupping his chin in his hand as he gazes at the other, his azure stare not so much sharp as quietly imploring. "Although I'm uncertain as to what exactly. But then, you know this."
