Characters: Rufus Shinra, Reno, Tseng Progress: Ongoing Summary: Rufus arrives at the Shinra manor in Lindblum Location: Lindblum When: Backdated, after this Warnings: None as of yet
It wasn't hard to pick out Rufus. The white suit was a dead giveaway. It was a suit that Reno remembered the blond wearing for years upon years - a signature, of sorts. He trotted up to the other man - how odd it was to know that he was over two years older than him now! - fingers lightly brushing the back of Rufus' hand. He didn't want to jolt the other man out of his daze, after all. Being a killer and being startled tended not to end well for the one doing the startling.
"Sir," he began in a lower voice than usual for the same reason, "Flight okay? Follow me and we'll get back to the manor. You've gotta be looking forward to relaxing a little. This place is a lot to take in at first."
The only indication that he was surprised at all was the split-second that the blond man froze, then turned towards Reno. He stared for just a moment, then nodded, making a small noise of confirmation while keeping his expression carefully blank, and moved to follow the Turk.
The walk back to the manor, Rufus was silent. Reno didn't make any attempts to talk him other than short directions on where they were going.
Soon enough, they were arriving at the manor, a two-storied, tastefully designed structure. Reno had said he himself had picked it out; he most certainly could understand why - it suited his tastes perfectly. Only a little bit flashy, but clean-looking, crisp, and elegant.
He let the redhead lead the way inside, mind still going a mile and minute.
"Tseng! We're home!" he called out, careful not to shout near Rufus' ears. He'd picked up quickly that the blond was a bit overwhelmed - and he couldn't blame him for it. As he said - it was a lot to take in. What Reno had told Rufus (and what Tseng, Cissnei, and others might have told him) wouldn't make it any easier.
"Hey, um... my room's on the second floor, near the end of the hallway. Tseng's is about halfway down the hall. Cissnei's is near mine. Other than that, there are a few dozen rooms to pick from. I could show you your old one, if you want." Not that there was much in it that would claim it as belonging to the President.
He hesitated for a moment or two, then continued speaking, tone quieter than the usual. "I can show you around, too... you know, the kitchen, dining room, that sort of stuff."
Tseng, at least, hadn't told Rufus too much about what would become of him (and the company) in the future. But he wasn't going to assume that others wouldn't have done so themselves. It would have been folly, not to mention there wasn't any real need to hide what had happened from Rufus. There was only the desire to make sure that he knew the full story of what had happened when and why.
Still, he didn't so much yell back an answer to Reno's question (he rarely raised his voice for anything) as he simply appeared shortly after Reno had finished speaking, offering a polite nod to Rufus as he did so.
"I'm afraid it might not be quite what you're used to, but it serves well enough for our needs."
