After leaving Galbadia Garden by literally flying out of the window, Rinoa's only thought was to find Garland. The strength of her grief and anger over losing Squall yet again had induced Trance, a state in which she was far more Sorceress than Rinoa.

If she had stopped to consider the matter, she might have wondered how she had gained more control of her powers, and at how easily she was able to cast her senses like a net, searching for other signs of magic. But Rinoa was far from thinking straight right now.

She was drawn, perhaps inexorably, to the Lunatic Pandora. Its power beckoned her. If Garland was anywhere, she felt that he would be here.

It was past midnight and the moon shone high in the sky when Rinoa alighted on top of the Lunatic Pandora. She stared down at the ruins with bright eyes. Spotting a pale figure amongst the rubble, Rinoa immediately spiralled down to meet it, her wings almost translucent as they caught the moonlight.

The beautiful rays of light the moon cast down were interrupted when another creature possessing similar beauty itself broke the path, descending to earth from the sky. The light illuminating the figure, without a doubt easily identifiable as a young woman the closer she grew, was almost too bright to be seen at one glimpse. Shielding his eyes with the back of his palm, Kuja stepped backwards and broke his intention momentarily of finding what he was looking for and instead focused on the woman that, for no reason known to him, stand before him.

Without a smile or a friendly tone, stark in contrast to their first encounter, when she’s situated he speaks. “Why the introduction? I’m rather busy, so I won’t be able to cater to you at the moment.”

Only the fact that he clearly wasn't Garland stopped Rinoa from attacking him instantly. As she landed, her wings folded up and disappeared behind her, but the glow of Trance had yet to fade.

She stared at him for a moment, unable to fathom why he looked so familiar. "...Kuja. Why are you here? Where's Garland?"

The look on her face was a clear indication as to how she was feeling, and the glow around her served as an excellent precaution for Kuja to tread lightly. It didn’t take him long, but when it dawned upon him he smiled a little, realizing this was the girl he talked with nonchalantly at the party no one expected him to show up to.

“I’m so flattered you remember me! As for Garland, well, what do I care of what that old man is up to? Do you think I keep track of him? I have better things to do. If that’s all you want to know, I’ll be on my way…”
