If Shelke had really signed up for SeeD, then a SeeD ought to know where she was. That was why, when Tifa spotted Selphie, she headed over to her.

"Selphie," she said urgently, "have you seen Shelke?"

Tifa stared at her. "You mean you already signed her up? Without asking for parental permission?"

What kind of place was this?

This was where Shelke was hiding. No, not hiding. Simply... choosing not to be with them.

So Tifa had to reach out. She knocked on the door softly. "Shelke?"

Shelke was seated on the bed in her 'new' room, her legs crossed, absently going through the bag of clothing she had taken with her when she'd snuck off with Eiko. She did not have all of her things with her, barely any of them really...including her cat, which was surprisingly distressing now that she thought about it.

But she had some clothes, and her weapons, and her phone. She'd managed with far less before, she could do so again.

She paused at the knock on the door, and almost didn't answer. Still...it was Tifa.

"It's open."

Tifa entered the room, closing the door behind her. She smiled at Shelke as she came to sit down beside her.

"We're going soon," she said. "Shelke... Won't you come with us?"

Shelke said nothing as Tifa came over and sat next to her, though her gaze shifted away.

"I am going to take the SeeD exam. I have to stay here in order to take it."

It was the truth, and carefully avoided any other reasons to remain.
