Sephiroth turned at the voice, and briefly gestured for the man to stay with one hand as he spoke. "You're not intruding, Valentine. Though I must admit curiosity as for why you're here. I know Genesis invited Zack..." He paused for a moment and continued with the first answer which could fit his own question.

"Did you come to speak with me as well?"

"I did, though it was perhaps selfishness on my part. I understand that I am... still not well known to you." Still, he stayed when Sephiroth gestured for him to do so. The gesture moved Sephiroth's sleeve, and it allowed Vincent to catch a brief glimpse of a mark on his wrist. His first thought was geostigma, but that would have been impossible. He tracks the hand with sharp eyes, trying to examine the mark. He cocks his head questioningly, but doesn't voice his question.

Sephiroth caught the look and almost shifted his arms so as to cover the place Vincent was watching. With a quiet sigh he decided against it and since he was supposed to be dealing with his inner demons now instead of trying to ignore and hide them away, he exposed the thing which had likely caught Vincent's eye. Against the pale skin of the wrist, the pair of stark black zeros side by side stood out sorely.

Looking away from the hated tattoo and up at the other man he finally spoke, though quietly. "They're a reminder..." His gaze fell away, toward the sea beside them.

Vincent's eyes trailed over the numbers, his gaze substantial as fingerprints. "So you avoid looking at them." By his side, the clawed hand clenched, then relaxed in an unconscious gesture. He knew perfectly well what Sephiroth means.

"I never received a number," Vincent murmured, quietly. "I suppose he considered me a failed experiment from the start... but I was never just his project either." Vincent's expression flashes with something twisted and bitter for a moment, before becoming blank once again.
