This post is actually a response to eats_veggies post on Homesteading Dreams.

A while back, on a pod cast that moonflowerz mentioned, someone mentioned the book, Possum Dreams: How to Live Well Without a Job and with (Almost) No Money, written in the 70s by a teenager named Dolly Freed. She lived with her father, and in one year they spent about $1,400.

You got me intriqued too! I wonder if my library has a copy of her book???? I followed the link to her blog and it looks like she hasn't updated that in awhile. Hmmm...
