Credit the time she'd spent in Fandom for the fact that Jen was actually stretched out on her bed relaxing tonight, not cooped up in her cubicle in the R&D sector and working. Granted, her relaxation-time amusement consisted of reviewing the video archive of last week's alien attacks, but tonight she wasn't going over them for analytical purposes

JEN! HI! Yay taking a break!
What's the giant alien got against deserted buildings? Isn't he for urban improvement? Low rents? or is he trying to save the demolition costs?
Things here have been up and down. Weird, bad thing two weeks ago where people got sucked into the heads of people who were in an alternate dimension being taken over by vampires. For the record: I make a crazy vampire. But then I got to fight demons in Vancouver with Tony and the guys, and that was mostly fun.
We're in Finals Week! New kids in two weeks!
Also, must get to the beach. Haven't done that nearly enough.
How's the research going?
*HUGS!*

Now I'm imagining someone has a Gigant-O-Ray and is selling time on it to different super-villains, and they have a line that goes around the block.
(Why can't they ever use their powers for good? Why?)
I remember you telling me about the movie genre thing. That still sounds fun. The vampire thing so was not, but I'm mostly glad it's over, and I'm me, and everyone I know is still alive here. But they're letting you work on uniforms? Like Edna Mode? (Do you know who she is? Tiny intense fashion genius scary woman?) Guns will be more fun when you graduate to it, you've only been there a couple months. I bet they have you on it by Halloween, 'cause something else will attack.
So not fair you haven't gotten to the beach. You should just *go*, and then phone them with updates when the inevitable happens.
How are the people you're working with? And oh! Did any of them turn into girls last Friday?

It was not a complaint. It's just scientific curiosity.
Scientific curiosity that makes me feel old.
Yes, I know that makes no sense.

I mean I'm sure Gruumm would be happy to provide more casualties if you're missing them, but DON'T TEMPT HIM.

I am not missing them! I just think it must be nice not to have to worry about that detail.

I'll see what I can do about that, Best Roomie Ever. You know, having my own room has its upside, but I miss you.
How's Tokyo?

So, my new roommate? Totally snores. I mean it. I think he keeps getting into my secret chocolate stash, too.
If they let you have vacation from being Super Future Space Girl, you totally need to come visit me. Tokyo is Tokyo -- neon and strung out on sugar 24/7. You have to experience it for yourself before you can believe it. We made sure to get a two-bedroom, and there's a spare futon with your name on it.
Which reminds me, are going to the Disney-thing? I turned in my vacation request today, and you should have heard my boss. Apparently I have to do 'work' if I want to 'play.' I show up every day! What more does he want? I mean, really, do we want me near the filing system? I think not...

He gets into your chocolate and you haven't kicked him out yet? I wonder why that is, hmm?
I'm not done with my training period yet! I have just enough vacation time to go to Disneyland, and after that I think they'll give me ten days. (I know. You'd think they'd be more reasonable about that in the future.) When I get it, I'll definitely come out and visit.
So I guess I'll see you at Disney, and if you want a letter vouching for how it's a bad idea to let you near the files maybe I can come up with something . . .

Hi, Adam!
I'm trying. Honestly. There was even cake one time. And I sang to it.
Good to know. I'll get Dinah or someone to keep tabs on it for us after you go. See you at Disneyland?
. . . and I don't know. I think that may be one thing we never figure out.

Nobody's birthday. I just felt the need to celebrate passing a couple of my training exams. And then there was singing, like I couldn't stop it.
You're the second person who's mentioned the girl thing to me. Why does nobody take pictures?!?

Hi, Momoko!
I love knowing I can send out emails like this and at least one person won't ask me if I'm kidding about the giant aliens. They never seem to hit parks here. Just urban areas as far as I've seen so far. I can't decide if I'm glad the city planners made the streets wide enough to accomodate constant giant robot fights or wish they hadn't.
Of course there's good places to eat here! Someone in HR has a list. I'll have to ask. If I can even find the HR department. I keep getting lost in this building.
I'm in Newtech City, California! It's 2024 here. And of course there's still cafes. And real food. Most of us R&D drones don't have time to actually go out for it though, so we end up with stuff out of the Synthetron a lot.
. . . candy would be fantastic, though.
-- Jen
P.S. Still in research! I think I may be a module or two away from weapons testing though.

>about the giant aliens.I KNOW! I love that about this school! Only I can't go home and talk about the weird things that happen here. I mean, it's one thing to have giant rubber ducks walking through downtown and destroying buildings and a whole other thing to say "Hi Mom, sorry I didn't call but I was a boy last week, which is way better than the weekend I went blind and at least none of my kids came to visit me during Finals week ( ... )
