The Untempered Schism
“It was…beautiful. Powerful and terrible, but entrancing all the same. I could see the vortex weaving over itself, folding time and space inside in little golden threads. Forwards red. And backwards blue. But always bright, bright gold. Oh, I loved it.”
Rose smiled as the Doctor continued to stare off into space, remembering.
“Bright, bright gold, huh? It sounds beautiful.”
The Doctor turned his head to smile down at her.
“Yeah,” he said, “Golden and shimmery. Golden and…”
The Doctor’s eyes widened, and he stared at Rose.
“Rose Tyler,” he breathed, “You are amazing. Since I was eight years old…”

Schism is such a cool word. Anyway, I totally thought the Doctor's flippancy in Utopia about his experience looking into the schism was covering up what really happened and what he really thought about it. I thought, what's he going to see if he stares into the raw vortex, into all of time and space? Bad Wolf, that's what. Anyway, I'm hopelessy romantic and the idea that Rose had, in some form, touched the Doctor's life from the tender age of 8 was too tantalizing not to write. :)
