My last Ten/Rose fic was well received, so I thought I'd try another.  Please review and comment, or I'll have no motivation to continue it!  Plus, that way, I'll have the chance to add in any suggestions or requests you guys have.

The Doctor opened the doors of the TARDIS, allowing the light to fill the dark console room. He strode out, one hand lifted up to his eyes, shielding him from the sun. Rose followed quickly, grappling the Doctor's free hand, and together they marched forward into the blinding sun.

They paused a moment to regard their surroundings, taking in the mighty landscape that lay before them. To their right, mountains stretched further out than they could see, lines of hills continuing on forever. Each mountain was a slightly different shade of grayish purple, topped with what looked like a small patch of freshly fallen snow. To their left, they could see a path leading down to a small, perfectly round valley city that lay between two snow-capped mountains. The ground was covered in clean white and they could see their breath in the air with each puff they released.

Rose looked up, squinting her eyes at the bright sun that glared down on them. The Doctor revived their march, gently pulling Rose forward with a tug at her hand. She complied, and soon the two were chatting happily as they made their way down to the valley.

At the bottom of the path, a tall gate blocked their entry into the snowy city. The Doctor let go of Rose's hand, moving closer to inspect the black iron, and tried pushing on the bars that held the gate together. It shifted with ease, allowing them passage into the city. Rose made to go through the gates, but the Doctor held his arm out in a horizontal line to keep Rose from going any farther. He lifted his other hand to his lips, pressing one finger against his mouth to motion for silence. She regarded him with curiosity, then adhered to his caution and took two small steps back.

"What is it, Doctor?" Rose asked, her voice slightly above a whisper.

"Shhh," he replied, pointing to his ear. "Listen."

Rose sighed, then stayed quiet as she opened her ears to the voices of the city that stood before them. Time passed, but no voices came. There were no laughs, no cries, no words; there wasn't even the sound of footsteps on a path or the creaking of ground as children flew atop it. It was silent.

"It's quiet," Rose said.

"No, not quiet," he responded. "Silent."

"Where is everyone?"

The Doctor drew his left hand up to ruffle through his hair, letting the other arm lay unused at his side, then turned to her. "I haven't got the foggiest. But something doesn't seem right...let's go poke it with a stick!"
