Superboy Test Scene.

Robin stood on a rooftop overlooking the streets of Gotham. It was a quiet night unfortunately, he could have done with something to take hs mind off things. Too much had happened too quickly. Dick was gone and Tim felt he had lost a brother. He didn't know what to think about Jason, he was a failure of the Bat family and all of them carried a bit ( Read more... )

As soon as Conner could, he flew for Gotham. The whole way he tried to think of something to say, but he couldn't. So he was going to have to wing it ... as usual. He spent a minute or two flying over Gotham trying to find Tim, and he saw his friend perched on a rooftop, looking kinda brooding, almost like Batman. Tim only got this way when things were really heavy, so yeah ... "Hey" Conner said, "I heard about what happened, and figured you could use a shoulder to cry on. Y'know, if Batman hasn't removed your tearducts." He said jokingly, trying to lighten the mood a little.

Tim allowed himself a slight smile as his friend landed beside him. "Boy wonders don't cry." He quipped. He hadn't seen his friend in a while, it was good to see him now after all that had happened. He was grateful he still had friends looking out for him, even when he hadn't been a great friend himself recently. He paused for a few seconds, not quite knowing what to say.

"It all feels like a bad dream, that somehow I'll wake up from this and it's not real. I just can't believe Dick's dead."

"I hope you're right." Conner says scratching his head, "I really hope it is a dream. I'm having a bit of trouble believing he's dead to though, he was like everyones hero. He sounded like a cool guy, I wish I got to know him a little better." Superboy says, feeling the weight of everything. No amount of superstrengh was going to make that weight any lighter.

"I'd ask you to pinch me, but I don't fancy having the bruise for a month!" Tim joked as he turned back to watching the Gotham night life. "He was certainly everyone's hero" Tim said quietly "in a way that neither I nor Batman will ever be. You should have seen his quadruple somersault, or the way he could rally a group with a few words. He was a better Robin than I ever was. A better hero. And now he's gone."

Conner crowed as he dove off the roof after Tim, banking up sharply and executed a self-indulgent barrel roll. He flew alongside Tim, and he asked, "So where do we go?" He asked, clearly not having thought through what they were going to do.

Tim grinned as he switched lines and swung for another rooftop. "It's called a patrol Conner, you go round until you spot a crime happening! Of course your super hearing might make things a bit easier..."

"Pa-what?" Conner said jokingly, as he closed his eyes for a moment and listened. He heard the usual din of cars, talking, barking dogs, yowling cats, but then, something different. The sound of warping metal, people screaming, and gunfire. "This way" Superboy said banking left and flying over a busy street. "Sounds like a gunfight, and something strong, really strong." Conner said looking back over his shoulder to Robin, "So no challenge." he added with a grin.

The Boy Wonder struggled to keep up with Superboy as they headed towards the scene. Tim never lamented his lack of superpowers, but sometimes he conceded they came in useful. The pair flew through the night life of Gotham, anxious to find out what was going on. As they neared the scene, even Robin could hear the sound of gunshots, sirens and screams. "Any idea what we're heading into?" He asked his partner.
