The season three premiere of "Eureka" on the Sci Fi Channel averaged 3.36 million total viewers, 1.77 million viewers aged 25-to-54, and 1.60 million viewers aged 18-to-49.

NOT GOOD.

Yes, "Eureka" is 267 percent higher than "Doctor Who" but just 52.7 percent higher than BSG in total viewers. But the problem is that those aren't the target demographics. "Eureka" is 254 percent higher than "Doctor Who" in A25-54 yet only 10 percent higher than BSG. "Eureka" is 272 percent higher than "Doctor Who" and just 6 percent higher than BSG in A18-49!!!

This means about 1.43 million people, or 42.5 percent, of "Eureka's" audience is "wasted." That is, they are too young or too old to have liquid cash to spend. (In all probability, most of these 1.43 million viewers are probably under the age of 18.)

SFC considers "Eureka" is top show. But if it is barely outperforming BSG, one wonders why they cancelled BSG. Again, I think it's salaries... "Eureka" is just as doomed, then. Ed Quinn just re-upped with the show at a huge salary increase, and the rest of the cast is due at the end of this season.

Sci Fi Channel's finale of Doctor Who on August 1 delivered a 1.0 HH rating and 1.26 million total viewers, according to Live + Same Day Nielsen data. In key demos, Dr. Who delivered 695,000 A25-54 and 588,000 A18-49.

For the first 10 episodes of Season 4, "Battlestar Galactica" averaged a 1.7 HH rating, 2.2 million total viewers, 1.6 million viewers in the 25-to-54-year-old demographic, and 1.5 million viewers in the coveted 18-to-49-year-old demographic. This represented an increase of 13 percent in household rating, 11 percent in total viewers, 14 percent in viewers aged 25-to-54, and 6 percent in viewers aged 18-to-49 over the same set of episodes in Season 3.

BSG's final episode, "Revelations," had a 1.4 HH and 1.8 million total viewers. "The Ties That Bind" -- the episode in which Calley dies (and the episode prior to "Revelations" for which I have HH and total viewers data) -- did a 1.1 household rating and 1.741 million total viewers.
