But these idiots believe that they can manufacture wants, needs and desires in their client base. There are very marginal signs that this power is no where near as absolute as they think. Marketing campaigns fail regularly and catastrophically this does not seem to matter though.
The idea that Cleveland can cheerlead its way past its problems goes back more than a century. There is an entrenched civic culture here that does that. I don't know where it came from or why it is so hard to get rid of. But it's here.
