Last Saturday morning I got a call from my half-brother. We almost never chat on the phone, so I was immediately concerned about why he'd be calling me on a Saturday. This kind of thing can happen to anyone, but it IS more likely to happen to the obese or smokers. Hope your dad makes a recovery.

You do not have to be overweight, a smoker or in bad heath to have an heart attack. They can do amazing things now a days thought, it is amazing that your dad recovered and is home.

Within an hour, they'd shoved a tube up his femoral artery and put stents in his heart.

Wow!  They used to need three days of prep between infarct and stenting.

Yipe! Guess that's one good way to receive priority treatment. ^_^;; Damn good they were able to take care of him so promptly.

And indeed, those genetic factors come into play so often.. hence the anecdotes of octogenerians who've been life-long smokers, to no great ill-effect, vs otherwise perfectly healthy young women falling to breast cancer. Robot bodies, bring 'em on!
