I have finally FINALLY FINALLY figured out how to smoothly play 10bit HD on this dying computer (it involved a billion new codecs, a new player, a lot of scary reconfiguration, halting just about every non-essential process, setting the el-configuration to High Performance, and also physically balancing the computer between my knees so that it ( Read more... )

I saw the episode! I saw it! I just need to rewatch it again, because the version I saw looked like there was pixellation going on due to internet speed or something. However, I wonder if some of the stuff I chalked up to errors were actually intended. Hmmm.

And haaaaaaaa, Zenigata/Oscar. Oh, dear. NO ONE WILL EVER REPLACE TANAKA HIRO. NO OOOOONE.

Aaaa excellent! I need your opinions! You're my Lupin-watching partner in crime!

Also the first subbed upload on all the video sites was horribly compressed and had some weird LSD colours going on in just about every scene, try to stay clear of that one (it was the one I first watched). I'm pretty sure some slightly better renders can be found on those streaming sites now.

AND TANAKA-SAN IS BOSS, NO ONE ELSE COMES CLOSE.

My trouble was the pixellation -- I'm going to find another copy to see if I can get it to play smoothly, and watch it, and then go, "OH MY FREAKING GOD, THAT WAS AWESOME, EVEN IF THE CHARACTER DESIGN IS REALLY WEIRD. WHY DOES LUPIN HAVE MY EYEBROWS? DID HE STEAL THEM, AND THAT'S WHY THEY'RE NOT GROWING BACK AS FAST AS THEY SHOULD?"

Have you tried downloading the episode and playing it on your computer? I had tons of difficulty, but I eventually got to play it smoothly with the CCCP codecs and Media Classic Player HC.

Hee, I'm still adjusting to Lupin's new eyebrows as well! I recognize them from the pachinko game, though there weren't tons of design details that made it from pachinko to TV.

Also, I just remembered to mention -- look! A Castle of Cagliostro reference! The part where he's in the SSK and he's got the crown on his head! That was in CoC!

WHAAAAA? I can't believe I missed a CoC reference! I can't even remember it from CoC right now, is it in the "I was so young and reckless once" flashback? I remember Jigen wearing Clarisse's bridal crown (OH GOSH I just realized - I keep noticing how the state of Cagliostro seems so Scandinavian; Scandinavian names, the Swedish flag keeps cropping up, etc., and I just realized that bridal crowns is a Scandinavian tradition as well! It didn't click until I thought the specific words "bridal crown") but not anything exactly like that.

When I get back to Bergen I'm so going to rewatch CoC (for the 564th time).
