Do you realize I've just spent two weeks watching Kurosawa's Seven Samurai? I really really liked it, but watching a three-hour movie when you've only got it as a video file on your computer (because, you know, ahem) and you're seeing your family and friends again for the first time in four months means largely watching it in periods of fifteen ( Read more... )

fjdkal; Yes. I mean, I love that movie, which is probably obvious (I mean hello, my favorite movie is LoA) but I think there is pretty much nothing "off" about Seven Samurai. I finally got to see it in a theater and it definitely solidified that for me. It's long, but ultimately it's very economical--you know everyone as much as you need to, and it combines action with drama and class/economics and interpersonal relations and man... It's an amazing accomplishment.
