"You see, a soul's rather like your appendix: totally expendable."

Oh my God, why haven't I seen Bedazzled before now? (I vaguely remember catching that abortion of a remake years ago on the telly. Brendan Fraser crap). Peter Cook in groovy sixties' threads (complete with bright red socks - I thought it was only me who ever wore those) is officially my favourite popcultural interpretation of the Devil ever. And that is actually saying a lot since I've been obsessed with popcultural interpretations of the Devil since I was about six years old. But aaah Cook's witty blazé working class Devil is just so fantastic. And Dudley Moore so sympathetic as Stanley.

Bedazzled just hits all the right buttons. You know how I adore Good Omens? Yeah, I love Bedazzled for absolutely all the same reasons. Just, eee, taking something mystical and grandiose and making it mundane and oh so British.

Absolutely brilliant.

And no longer will I have to question myself "Now why on earth can I so easily recall seeing Peter Cook and Dudley Moore in nun costumes jumping on trampolines?" which has been bothering me for some years now.
