The Unexpected Rose

This rose plant was very much in bloom in May; then the first heat wave ruined its blooms, and I thought it was done for this year

An autumn beauty! some years I've seen them blooming in early December.

There are some sturdy roses that persist into early winter too, but I thought this one was a "May rose", so I was very surprised to see that bloom. And now it's slowly fading, but there is another bud next to it, and second promising-looking branch.

It's a beautiful color!

I think there are some miniature roses about to bloom in my backyard. I need to go out and check to see if that is indeed the case.....
