I once told a woman on the train who'd told me her husband had died recently that George, my partner of 17 years, had died recently, too.

Her reply:

"Oh, but it's different for homosexuals. You don't really love, so, you can't possibly mourn."

I can't believe someone would actually think that in this day and age.

That was back in 1998.

All this woman proved to me is that she isn't really capable of love and compassion, herself.
