Hey Dan, I saw a Volga car today!

Jan 12, 2010 18:45

I hadn't seen one for a loooooooong time!

So dan4behr , here is another exotic communist-era car for you. Made in the USSR. Definitely very old.

And I'm wondering if Tomaz - paterson_si  in Slovenia and Maruan - borderliner in Romania have seen such cars.

EDIT: it looks like the GAZ-24 model.

Hey, thank you! These are fun to see!
That car is vaguely familiar to me. I'm going to venture a guess that it's a Volga, or possibly a Moskovitch?

P.S. It seems to be GAZ-24, the 1968-85 model.

It does look collectible, and is already becoming a rarity.

It seems to be GAZ-24, the 1968-85 model.

And I have the feeling this one in my photos was made earlier than 1985. The dashboard and evrything on it looked ralther old-type.

P.S. Oh yes, it looks exactly like the photos of the 1970-77 generation on wikipedia. Including the dashboard that I didn't manage to photograph - it was the same as the 1974 photo.

(LOL, I was so afraid that the owner would appear any moment and get angry).

Oh, there's a trick, because I also do so. Say that you're interested in the car and make questions. 90% of the times you get such positive responses from the owners, it's worthy :)

I remember seeing some of them when I was still a kid. And this is a rather well preserved example. I like it.

It has some little dents here and there, but yes, it's remarkably well preserved - and it must have been around for a long time. Maybe even 25 years.

Dents mend. :) Yes, a well kept car. It looks like a ship.
