I just took a small break from a MelloNear oekaki I was drawing, only to find THIS. I'm in love with this fic! Brief as it is, I think that it explains part of their relationship, and how things would be between them if they crossed a certain line: raw, passionate, and silent-- always silent, full of things that will forever and ever remain unsaid (verbally, at least).

He stared up at the man above him, wondering for not the first and obviously not the last time how they had gotten themselves into this.' <--- I especially found this part completely priceless. Near has no idea of why there's this irresistible pull between them, why things always spiral into insanity. And I doubt that Mello has any idea, either.

I loved this line: The hand was replaced with something much better, and Near arched into the fullness as Mello thrust into him (it burned, it always burned at first, because Mello wasn't that caring, but oh god what a brilliant burn it was).

Also the idea of Near "lapping it all up" and being rudely awakened is just so true, it breaks my heart.
