...Dumbo?

LOL Films of those I have seen:
Dumbo
My Girl,
Brokeback Mountain - Which i'll probably not watch again but for different reasons LOL
Of Mice and Men
My name is Khan - To be fair this one made me cry too
The elephant Man
The boys of St Vincent (I dunno if this one counts cos I had to press stop)

Oooh I wanna watch all of those too well aside from mystic river as I've seen it and I don't know what joyeux Noel is about.

Yes, Dumbo. I had to hit pause because I was crying so damn hard. And I watched that like three or four years ago, so it wasn't like I was a kid or anything. IDEK.

And I don't know where I first heard about Joyeux Noel, but it sounds pretty good and also sounds like it's going to make me cry.

Oh I remember learning about that in history at acshool. I know a film you should see but you won't cos it will make you cry.

"A Single Man"

My list is similar to yours - anything depressing that will make me cry. I swore years ago never to see Graveyard of the Fireflies even though it's by my favourite animation studio. Just reading the synopsis sent me into a deep depression.

Wise choices though - Boys of St Vincent was horrific, I am still haunted by some images. Bambi was sad and is also sadly dated, I never saw Elephant man, but, no, no way.

And the Colour Purple was not only depressing - but it kind of sucked as a movie, despite critical acclaim.

Lovely Bones - I surprised myself by enjoying. It's actually quite uplifting in places.

Avoid Mystic River.

I have told quite a few friends and family not to see Toy Story 3 - it's a high quality movie, but really? I wish they'd left it with #2. I personally wish I hadn't seen it.

For other movies I wish I hadn't seen I would also add:

Jakob the Liar
Le Strada
Braveheart
Millenium Man (not traumatic, just three fucking hours of my life I will never get back)
Full Metal Jacket

Good post!!

Thanks for the heads up with the films! Braveheart wasn't that bad for me, actually. Hmmm. I don't know why...

I cried so HARD reading Lovely Bones and I want to see how they turned it into a film but I have a feeling it's going to make me cry.

We made the mistake of showing Graveyard of the Fireflies one week at Anime Soc. When it finished, it was a room full of silent, depressed, sniffling students.

Toy Story 3 does not belong in that list! It's like the only film I felt BETTER after having cried over, lol.

But yeah in general I avoid depressing movies like the plague. I wish to god I could unsee Mysterious Skin, ugh.

:D

Perhaps when it's out on DVD. Then at least I'll be able to cry to my heart's content without having to worry about other people.

My brain tells me I shouldn't watch Mysterious Skin but my heart, well the part that belongs to JGL at least, says I should! Methinks the film will break my heart though. So probably shouldn't.

That's another film I want to watch actually. But I didn't know it was depressing! Is it very very bad?

... I really want to say no to encourage you to watch it because it's FANTASTIC but yeah it really kind of is depressing. I mean you know what the set up is right? I think I only started wanting to cry right at the end though.

Hmmmm...

Hmmmmmm...

I'm just trying to decide whether you cry at things more easily or if I do.

I actually tend to rewatch a lot of the movies that make me cry. I guess I'm just weird like that, lol.

Requiem for a Dream, though. That one I haven't been able to see for a second time. It's not only sad, it's harsh as fuck, it makes you almost physicalle nauseous.

Was Gran Torino the one in which Clint Eastwood befriended the neighbour's kid? Really really good. And sad. Like Million Dollar Baby. Ah, Clint. ♥

Movie posts are always entertaining. Now tell me the top films you do actually rewatch often? :)

Oh, GOD. Yes. I watched that because my bf at the time told me it was really good and I should watch it. He didn't even WARN me! WTF? I was a total wreck for the whole day. /o\

And yeah, that's Gran Torino. I'm avoiding all Clint's films from now on, I swear.

As for the films I rewatch... Well, I watched Inception twice. Films I'm (or was) fannish about, I watch a lot. Like Lord of the Rings, Star Treck (reboot), Cube, Serenity. Non fannish films I rewatch are Wimbledon, Love Actually, Toy Story... y'know things that make me HAPPY.

BUT the film I'm MOST looking forward to watching again is Four Lions. Have you seen/heard of it?
