Not the best of Christmas news

Dec 22, 2008 19:05

My dad called today to tell me that he's tested positive for prostate cancer. They haven't looked at the options yet, so he's not sure how they're going to treat it, but the doctor seemed confident that they could get it all.

I hope so.

Oy. My best wishes to you and your family. A cancer diagnosis is never easy to deal with.

Thanks so much. It's quite a shock, though my dad has always been worried about it. I guess we wait and see how the doctors want to handle this.

Thanks, Leila. I appreciate it. I kinda wish I was up there to be involved in his care, but that's just not feasible right now.

It does, especially this time of year. Thanks for the good thoughts; I appreciate them.

My prayers are with you. It's a difficult thing to think about, but if they caught it early enough it's completely curable. We just went through that with my brother. Surgery got it all. No chemo or radiation was needed. Just annual check-ups. So I'll pray for your dad to be that lucky.

Thanks, grumpy. I'm hoping that they did catch it early enough and that surgery (if that's the way they go) will catch it all.
