I am in West Orange, New Jersey. I am so glad you posted all of this. Maybe it IS too personal for the Atlantic Monthly, but it is perfect for LiveJournal, which is one of the few places left, I think, for community and places where you can post things like this. It's a blog, sure, and so is WordPress, but it feels different. How's that for an inadequate explanation! I am so glad you're here and that you can post things like this. And perhaps one day I'll have the courage to follow in your footsteps.

I really enjoyed reading it, because a) insights into another persons life are always intersting and b) the prose has a nice flourish to it. So I can say I wholeheartedly approve of the manifesto blog. Though I'd have to say, the length stopped me from commenting, because it feels it deserves more than a one-sentences response. I didn't have anything more thought out to offer than 'Those blue ceramic plates and bowels are gorgeous!'
