When I was growing up, the Salvation Army was the *only* group that helped my (non-religious) mother, with no conditions, no hassles. We lived in the projects (as in dirt poor) and they made Christmas possible for us for several years.
I'll always give them money for that reason. They practice what they preach. Of course, nowadays, they're out-of-step with society's views, that much is certain. I won't argue that.
What a lovely box you put together! The last time I did something similar (although I think it was through county public services) was years ago, and I asked what demographic they needed things for the most. It was teenage boys. Thankfully, they provided not only sizes but favorite sports teams, and one of them was interested in art.
