Today was Day 2 of the government shutdown. For those reading this who are not in the know or not paying attention, this shutdown is happening because Congress did not pass a budget or a continuing resolution for Fiscal Year 2014. Hey, no shame in filing for unemployment. It's funded by a tax that employers pay based on the number of employees they have and the percentage who file for unemployment. It's there as a safety net, and while it's not a lot of money (particularly in GA, I'm sure), it'll help you get by without having to dip too far into your savings. I've gotten unemployment twice in the last 5 years; stupid financial industry.

I know - I know folks who have already filed, and I should probably get around to it - particularly since it doesn't look like there's movement in this ending any time soon. I don't think it's very much, though.
