The last scene with the model plane destroyed hit me hard, particularly in contrast to the note of hope in his decision to see Kate after first deciding to spare it.

Been there, the helpless rage. Once shattered a watch my father gave to me after failing a geometry final I had studied my guts out for. It's a sickening experience.

I didn't realize how angry this fic was until someone in the Pit commented that I must be a very angry, bitter person to write such painful stories. *grin* Well...

Jury's still out on that one. It's probably not entirely untrue. I've never smashed anything, but I do have a tendency to swear like a pirate and flail a lot, usually ending with some kind of teary meltdown. Can't see Tony doing that somehow.

Glad you... is like the right word here?

Appreciate and admire. As I once told you, good fic is about the inspiration of emotions and ideas. That it be "feel-good" isn't part of the contract.

What's important is that it feels true. DiNozzo here is all sharp edges and rage, without descending into woobiedom.

If it is, they sure signed the wrong contract when they clicked my link. Overall, the response has been positive - but like in life, there are always some people who are bound to disagree with my POV. Anonymously and/or privately. Gotta love courage.

They're going to sh** when they see what's coming, if they thought this was angry and bitter and painful...

What-dom?
