Today we will be making this icon



Open base image


Duplicate the layer

Go to image >> adjustments >> desaturate


Go to layer >> layer mask >> reveal all

Go to layer >> New adjustment layer >> brightness/contrast >> brightness 20 >> Contrast 33
(This will vary acording to what your origional image is like)


Select a soft tip brush >> size 60 >> opacity %100 >> flow %25

Click on the mask and erase some of it so that the face and hands show through


(You could stop here as it is quite a nice icon as it is now, or you can continue)

Press ctrl, shift and N to open up a new layer

Select the fill tool and fill the layer with white >> Go to layer >> layer mask >> reveal all

Open this texture
From the fortuna major set from tiger_tutorials

Set layer to multiply

Go to layer >> layer mask >> reveal all

Select a hard edge brush >> size 48 >> Mask approx half the texture so the white layer shows through

Click on the mask for the white layer >> erase the left hand side so the picture shows through
