First the wallpapers!  Sorry all, no kakairu, but it's Kakashi and Iruka. Oh and I'm being lazy, so I'll post the 1280x800 and 800x600 versions later...

Shirtless, ANBU Kakashi:

I'm not very familar with what exact sort of pro-choice speech you need to write, but in these discussions it always helps to back up your point with some history. I recently read in a book entitled Bound to Please: The history of the victorian corset on how victorian women would use the corset as a crude form of abortion by tightening the laces to induce miscarriages. This way, your point could be to point out that pro-choice and abortions have been around for a long time, and whatever the method (coat hangers/corsets) are used advantagiously by women with unwanted pregnancies. You could even further this point by including an image of a victorian woman in a corset with a 'wasp' waistline to empasise this point.

I hope this helps some.

Actually, that helped a lot! I had no idea women use corsets for abortions (shows you how much I researched the history^^;). I really did need more examples of crude abortions and showing women with wasp waistlines would really get the point across (and manage to make several of my friends cringe...*evil chuck*...). Thank you so much^^

I had no idea as well that corsets could be used like that until I read the book! Though, it does make sense...

Glad to help! ^_^

Interesting... the grunginess isn't really my taste, but the simplicity of the Iruka wallpaper is _interesting_. XD Did you have fun drawing cracks?

I don't know how I can help with the topic, but I get very very nervous when I have to speak in front of people, to the point of visibly shaking. Some things that might help:
-Practice the speech over and over again, to get the timing right
-If you can, move around while giving the speech (it helps [me] get rid of nerves)
-Remember that everyone giving their speech is just as nervous as you, and chances are (unless you puke in front of everyone :P) they won't even notice how nervous you are
-Try to practice your speech in front of a roommate or a friend or parent. When you practice your speech, say it out loud.
-If you practice and the speech doesn't meet the time requirement...use lots of visuals...besides the visuals hopefully making the speech a little longer, they also keep people interested.

...and that's all I can remember from my communications class, heh. I hope you do well! I hope I helped a little bit...Try not to get too worked up over it and have a good weekend!

Thanks for al the tips on calming me down. The calmer I am, the better I do and the less I shake. I really don't want to see myself shake when my teacher forces my class to watch all the speechs again. Ja, she's taping everyone -_-

Your lucky. This speech is for my communication arts class (basically a communications class, but the art part is there beecause I go to an arts school)and my damned teacher didn't tell my class any of that.

Heh, I hope I do good, too, and you helped a lot. I'll try to calm down and you have a good weekend as well! ^__^

Well, both wallpapers are lovely. I liked teh Iruka one, but not the color. Maybe if it was blue or neon pink instead of just grey ( ... )

Thank you! I don't really like the color either, but I was so fustrated after I spent four hours making all the little cracks, I didn't feel up to playing with the color. I might change the color later...who know?

That's a good idea. If people see the statistics, rather then hear them. The mentally disabled idea is something I never thought of. I'll add that to my speech for sure.

Actually, about half of my speech focuses on what would happen if there was no choice. The woman's financal state and willingness/ability to raise a child is something you can use statistic after statistic to convince people.

What you told actually did help me with the image thing. I guess reading someone else's words makes me think more then reading my own. Thank you so much for the help^^

Thank you^^

I know...but I can hope to avoid public speaking as much as I can. I usually don't get this worked up, but my teacher is taping everyone's speech, then forcing us to watch our speechs again. The thought of seeing myself do it just bothers me...its like having to do the speech all over...

Crime reduction and economic stress in poor countries is something I didn't think to mention. The crime reduction aspect, especially is something that will most likely affect people's opinions.

Thanks for the help^^
