Were you good at maintaining a post-break-up cooling off period? If you had a spat with a friend and she hung up on you, did you wait for her to calm down and call you back?

No. But I'm half-convinced that's how my husband & I wound up getting together for real, so I think it worked out for the best. :-)
HOWEVER.... in terms of distance to revise, you've definitely done the right thing! The last revision I did on the currently-being-revised piece was last May- this is my "Getting into query shape" revision & I couldn't have seen half the things I've caught without that distance.
