Watch out for Sammy. That’s been his job since the night of the fire and he’s old enough now to take the next step.
“Okay, son.”
Dean takes a deep breath and pulls the trigger. The first bottle explodes off the rail, then another and five more after that. The gun is heavy and too big for his hands, but he doesn’t stop and he doesn’t miss. Seven bullets, seven bottles: the last remnant of childhood shattering along with his targets.
He lowers his weapon and meets his father’s measuring eyes, seeing truth there. Dad knows exactly what he’s doing
