a new-orlenian told me this, which was consistent with "hoc mot biet muoi, hoc muoi quen het". i don't really know what i know anymore. i still hope to sustain some fundamental concepts for survival. yeah, that is pretty important ( Read more... )

i didn't try the crawdads :(. i'll keep that in mind for the next trip. i updated my post for more info about NO.

we're all set for the 10th. i might be out of town in which case you'll have another host, but the reservation will still be good.

Maybe most NOLA residents realize rebuilding is pointless. Building below sea level, is dangerous in Holland. In a prime hurricane area, it is insane. Even with FedGov subsidy.

Peirce F. Lewis wrote an interesting book explaining why N.O. is where it is (N.O.: the making of an urban landscape). the situation seems to be a little more complicated than what i've previously known via the media and other info sources. abandoning the city is a bit radical, but i think shrinking the footprint and other measures to deal with the levee & wetland system seems reasonable, although might not be politically feasible.

the "hoc..." is in Vietnamese, no wonder you don't understand :-P
