“It’s wrong to steal,” Chris Fillmer noted, “but it’s okay to sit back and watch your family die.”

...So true. And how he finds people applauding him only when he ends up in jail... ;__;

sacrificed it to the Delete key on the limited-wordcount altar.
I like this a lot :D

Yes, it's a very powerful little piece you got there!

I like the same two quotes above that chamyl mentioned

Everyone will talk about solutions but no one actually follows through and offers real practical answers (in this case, a job)

Not enough people are willing to give second chances. They learn a few facts and make immediate judgements.

I'll be voting for you this week.

This story is profound. Thanks for sharing it.

The concept of enforcing justice... it's hard to say what's right given how much subjective details you're going to have in every single case you get. It's a problem I'm at a loss as far as fixing. XD

Thank you very much, and I'm glad you liked it!! :)

Thank you!! ^^

Nope, you've got it exactly right. ^^ I was sort of poking about the idea that... I mean, where do you draw the line? Is there reasonable cause to break the law? And can you cut one person more slack than another just because you think their reason was better than another's? They're questions I still don't have any answers to, of course... XD

You have revealed more than just a tragedy through this beautifully woven tale so that we see the purity of Chris and want to love him.

Incredible. The imagery, the social commentary, the characterization of Chris -- it was a lovely, if painful read. No unnecessary words. Just a thought-provoking and amazingly well-written piece.

Thank you!! I was really going in a different direction with this one, and social subjects aren't my usual fare. I'm glad you appreciated it!!
