Do I even try to finish marvel_bang? I mean, I got 20K in, but this story is BIG. Like, EPIC. And I have two weeks before I head out to the US for my trip

Hmmm if you really think it'll only take another 10k, then I think I would get to the end of Part 1, so you at least have a complete "section." That way you at least will have something you can show for all the work you've done so far, but you will be at a stopping point so you can have fun with other things.
As far as the Pacific Rim insanity that is so DELIGHTFULLY taking over the ficcing community, maybe trade off wordcounts with the epic? Like allow yourself to write either a small fic or 1k of the Raleigh/Mako epic and then switch back to the other epic for 1k and vice versus?
That tends to work best for me when my mind wants so desperately to up from one thing to another. I let the muse play, but keep at least some forward momentum on the larger project I've got going.
It's a bit of a tricky stopping place. Basically, there's an attempt on Fury's life and Maria stops it with Steve's help. And there's some fixing up to do even within the story. (Like, the personal interaction scenes between Steve and Maria - I think I wasn't sure how fast things should move, but now that the action sections are filled in, I have a better idea. Sort of.)
So, yeah, that's a problem.
And good idea about the 'writing some on one then writing some on the other'. My problem is that it's taking FOREVER to actually write the PacRim stuff - I keep changing my mind about the tone/style/scene I want to depict and it's FRUSTRATING.
I'm overthinking it - I need to just write and not look back. IT'S NEARLY BLOODY IMPOSSIBLE THIS WEEK, THOUGH.
Ahh yeah I see what you mean. Yeah that would be a problem indeed.
And I totally hear you on having a hard time writing - Until tonight, I'd been sitting at 5500 on my hetbang story... You know the one that's supposed to be 20k and is due the 26th? *headdesk*
But I've already managed 1k tonight in about an hour, so if I can keep the momentum up, I can make a pretty solid dent in it tonight.
Well, my first instict would be to go with "Complete Part I and worry about Part II and III later." I am coming from a crafting perspective, and not a writing perspective though.
As for the other, you don't have an "All of the above option"!
I don't know how to answer re: Marvel big bang, but I AM excited for Pacific Rim epicMako/Raleigh fics, because that is what I am most fannishly interested in at the moment.

Anyway, the second question was ticky-boxes, so you could have put "all of the above". :D
