Never NEVER EVER purchase running shoes from anywhere other than a reputable RUNNING store (or online once you've been properly fitted)

The wrong shoes will eventually screw up your ankles, knees and back. The things they sell at Payless hardly qualify as shoes, more or less running shoes.

Go to a REAL running store (NOT Big-5, Gart, or Footlocker, they don't carry the correct line nor do they have properly trained staff) and have a PROFESSIONAL fit you and watch you run in the shoes to determine your body mechaninics and running style. A Good, reputable running store will give you 30 days in which to take the shoes back if they don't work.

Once you know what brand and model of shoe works for you, then you can order online (once you've purchased at least one pair from the people who put all the hard work in on you)

well hun the only problem to this is that I will be getting a pair of shoes once I leave for basic training and I just need a pair of cheap shoes to make it through till then, I won't be doing a ton of running between now and then just enough to keep myself from getting winded in a two mile run.

so if you know of any cheap shoes I can pick up that will last me at least a month then let me know!

Back in basic we couldn't even use the shoes we brought with us. There was a small selection of shoes to choose from... prolly why my feet are as screwed up as they are. Got some lil 'ol PV2 measuring the arch of my foot.... hell, how do you measure the arch of a foot if you don't even got one? Ooh well. Just get a good pair of shoes ASAP. Dunno why they dont let people bring their own shoes. Damn unniformity. --medic out--
