Plot Updates: May
Hello people! This is Pied, one of your darling plot mods, here to give you a run-down of where we are with the game plot. As you know, the next six months will see the culmination of the main game plot, starting in May.
Well, May is almost upon us, so here it is. The beginning of the end. Remove Disc 3, insert Disc 4. We'll be providing you with regular updates so that you have an idea of what's coming and the opportunity to make plans and plot with each other. Endgame events will rely quite heavily on player involvement and player initiative. We want to give characters the chance to be proactive and make things happen. It's the only way Garland can be defeated.
What's Happening in May
Essentially, May is an information-gathering month. Characters will have the opportunity to make plans and figure out what's going on. Regent Cid will initiate much of this, but as ever he relies on volunteers to do the job.
Here's a brief overview:
- The aftermath of the Lunar Cry will really kick events into motion. There are still a lot of monsters around. They won't disappear overnight. Let's just say that Gaia's monster population has increased significantly, and the Mist Continent in particular is much more dangerous than it used to be.
- Burmecia has also been permanently destroyed. Actually, an entire hunk of continent was blown away so it's now all beneath the ocean except for a tiny island where the palace used to be. This island is inaccessible via airship but can be reached via boat. Anyone investigating it will discover that a myrrh tree has sprung up in the palace ruins.
- We will continue to drip feed information on the significance of the myrrh trees and Crystal Chalices over the month. Expect to see clues from the Selkies and Aki Ross regarding this. However, it is up to the player characters to put together the clues and figure out what to do, so we encourage you to do this! This part of the plot is still in its early stages but it will be absolutely key over the following months.
- On Sunday, 1st May, Regent Cid will post to the network determined to sort this mess out once and for all. To that end he will suggest two things:
1) People should go and speak to Matoya. Yep, it's time for her to spill the beans. There is no set date for this, but it needs to happen in the first two weeks of May, so that it can be discussed at Cid's second suggestion, which is:
2) A final Heads of State meeting. This will take place on Saturday, 21st May. No AIM chat for this; a Mooglenet post will be set up instead.
- On 10th May, the final elemental crystal will appear in the auction. Once obtained, Regent Cid will make plans to use the four elemental crystals to find Garland. This will also be discussed at the HoS meeting.
- The actual mission to find Garland will take place in June, so I'll post more about that later. In the meantime, you can use this post to plot and please feel free to ask any questions!
