Cat whisperer, anyone?

So, I have this problem. I have two cats who are 6 and a half years old. I've had them since they were born. They're good cats, and I love them. But I would very much like to feed one of them to some very large, very hungry dogs right now ( Read more... )

If it was a health problem, she would probably just be peeing anywhere. It sounds like a behavioral problem. She is very clearly making sure that you see her doing it. Maybe it is from the move? Is there anything else different about your new environment...like something she can't sit on or a room she can't go into that she could before? Maybe she just wants you to pay more attention to her?

I live with a cat who spite pees, so I know how you feel. Mr. Beaners peed on my bed twice at one point and I'm pretty sure that it was because he was mad at Willis.

Nothing has changed, and we've been moved 6 months. They have complete access to every piece of furniture in every room. And I pay a lot of attention to her. She's never done anything like this before.

Spite peeing is NOT ok.

You are right... spite peeing is not ok, but I would never get rid of Mr. Beaners. But that is my choice.

Hmmm... have she and Mouse been fighting a lot lately?

Then I'm out of ideas. :-(

I really don't want to get rid of her. I love my cats...They've been my babies for a long time. But I really can't abide a cat who pees on furniture OR people.

No, they haven't been fighting.

Gonna refer you to therealfranco's wife. She is the expert in all things animal behavior and may have ideas for you. Is it ok for me to give her your info? I'll be seeing her tomorrow.

Yes, please! And tell her hi for me. It was great to catch up with her at your wedding.

Yeah, I'm sure the advice you would give me is exactly what I'm tempted to do anyway. Thanks, anyway.

Give the cat a taste of her own medicine?

What my friend who's a vet tech suggested when our cat did that was locking him in a room with his litter box to reaffirm that THIS is where you pee. Don't know how that would affect your other cat, though.

That's what we did on Wednesday, we locked both of them in the bathroom with the litter box. I thought we had it straightened out after that, but apparently not. We locked te in the bathroom again, today, though. I hat to punish Mouse for Nubbs' bad behavior, but we only have one litter box...
