As far as the lj user thing, I've always just done it this way - hope it work:

(lj user=lj_name)

Just replace the parens with the left and right arrow things. No dash between 'lj' and 'user' - it's the only HTML thing that doesn't use it as far as I know. No spaces around the '=' either.
