The next president of the US?

I watched today the debate between Obama and McCain, and wow, I'm really hoping especially now that McCain doesn't win. His political philosophy reminds me of that of former Australian Prime Minister John Howard who thought that it was best to help the rich and let that trickle down the ladder to the poor. Except, it doesn't work. The rich just get ( Read more... )

I don't like Obama anymore than I like McCain, but I totally agree with you that he is insane and Palin even more so. Crazy, sad, pathetic times.

Yeah admittedly I haven't looked much into Obama's specific policies, but judging on what I saw of the debate, he seemed more competent in what he was talking about and more compassionate to the middle class than McCain.

Excellent insights. McCain actually said, in the debate, that he'd freeze spending on all things not military/national security related. How on earth does he expect that to go over? We're already pouring our decreasing wealth into Iraq to the tune of billions of dollars, while they actually have a fairly juicy surplus that's growing. It's time to end it and let them have their country back to run for themselves. Joe Biden had a great idea, in my opinion anyway, for letting Iraq and its various factions deal with themselves and their own internal tensions. McCain and Palin? No way, no how.

So much for McCain being concerned with America's economy. Gagh.

Yeah, really. I know of someone who thinks McCain is better on the economy. All I can say is that he must have gotten bad information or must have a severe lack of judgment in this particular case, because the guy is normally smarter than that!

Tis :)
It amuses me that Peter Garrett the lead singer of Midnight Oil is now a politician in Australia. I was hoping he'd sing Dreamworld for his maiden speech to parliament, but alas, he didn't.

Yep, same here. He seems to be a natural though because he's always been politically involved/aware, even in his earliest Midnight Oil lyrics. :D

Haha, that would have been awesome!

I think so too. I remember when he was running for office last year, his political opponents said he was just a rock star, but they forget that he was always politically active during his music career, especially in environmental matters.

I am SO confused!! The plan to help the middle class is to give them money in the form of tax cuts to do this bail out thing and that's meant to rein in spending!????

WTF?

What the hell kind of answer was that? I just... I don't understand!! *headdeskdeskdeskdesk*

and did she actually end up answering the question? And since when is trade a bad thing like she assumes people will take it when she's doing her little spiel? yikes, no wonder no one likes her!

Nope. I wished the journalist would've been less gentle and said flat out, "you didn't answer the question!"

Just like I remember Kerry O'Brien did once years ago when he was interviewing Pauline Hanson. It was beautiful to watch as she choked on her own sentences. I wish I could find that interview online. It was brilliant how he cut her down.
