This is really sad, in a very quiet sort of way. It feels very true to character that John's grief isn't raging or outwardly emotional but very personal. Well done!

Sherlock had been astoundingly good when he was in the mood to play something other than noise. But his brother clearly had the edge on him. He was more polished. More… consistent. A jarring noise broke the civility. Mycroft began to scrape.

I think this is possibly the most heartbreaking thing I've ever read. Stunning writing. Just stunning.
