Auto-rereaders of the world, unite!

Three questions for all of you...

How many of you write fiction? Original fiction, fanfic, whatever you like?

Second question: how many of you reread your own stories... and not for editing purposes?

(*sheepishly raises hand*)

Third question: So, fellow auto-rereaders... why do we reread our own stuff ( Read more... )

1) I've written before. or tried, anyway. Wasn't that good, and I can't make myself write anything more than about 700 words for anything. I'm now left to throwing plotbunnies at people hoping something will come out of them.

2) I reread them, and think to myself how immature my writing was back then XDDD

3)I've only been stalking your ficjournal for about 2-3 years (I've been around since the time you posted the last few chapters of the 'Roommates Arc'). And now, yeah, the fanart *laughs sheepishly*

3 [revised :D]

I guess it's a way of checking yourself for how your writing's changed over the years, or to see how your characters have developed over the course of a series. Sometimes you might write enough that you forget what you have established before, or forget a fic entirely (it's been known to happen XD).

I've totally forgotten fics! Especially ones I wrote during my more prolific PoT days--I went through that folder a couple of weeks ago, and was like, "...huh, funny that." And yes, I definitely suffer from forgetting what I've established before... I really should read back through the Roommates before continuing Coping Methods, but I'm lazy. ^^;

Though I admit, I really wish my writing had changed over the years!<--has had the same style since, well, the age of fifteen or so.

Oh my god, you caught me. *is re-reading her work right now!* I'm in an angsty sort of mood, and the Adieu arc is good for it. But I'm also re-reading Keima and Chuuban (Hikaru no Go). ^_^;;;

*giggle!* I know what you mean! There's a certain guilty pleasure in it, isn't there?

Though, oddly, I never find my own stories as angsty upon rereading them as I did upon writing them... does this happen to you?

Mmm, I dunno. I find the Adieu arc doesn't make me cry any more. ^_^ I was close to tears when I was writing it (had to get it out). But I certainly feel so embarassed at some of my older things.

Surprisingly enough. Happy Twenty-Third, Tezuka Kunimitsu feels so angsty upon rereading. T_T

*hand raise* I write original fiction and I started when I was six! ♥ I usually re-read my work for editing purposes but I can say that sometimes I'm just lazy and don't want to edit so I just re-read it to see if it makes sense! xD I also like to re-read the stuff I wrote in elementary and middle school, mostly because I don't remember writing it and it's nice to see how much I've improved! ^^; If I'm particularly proud of something I wrote I tend to re-read it to inspire myself and to keep myself motivated! =3

I keep reading and re-reading your writing because it's absolutely amazing and witty and fun! ♥ I read Makka years ago and only recently found your Hyotei Roommates Arc! But browsing through your fic journal I've stumbled across some of your other fics that I remember reading forever ago as well! :D Your work is a joy to read and it's wonderful! You're a brilliant writer! ♥ With so many half-hearted pieces of writing out there it's nice to find an author who writes with a flow that's so easy and nice to read! Sweetie, you're ( ... )

Hee! We started writing at about the same time, then! (Though I discovered comic books very early, so even then, it was fanfic.) I reread my high school stuff sometimes--though it's embarrassing when my mum pulls out stories that I write in elementary school that were published in the newspaper and whatnot, and I'm like, "...I can't acknowledge writing that. No, really, I can't."

*hides under the metaphorical afghan* Goodness, I'm glad my wordy style works for you, but I'm no tensai by any means! *laugh* *blushing*

Whuuuut. I do that. 8D And then I marvel at how shitty my writing is now. I've definitely turned snarkier... but the overall quality is just too different for my brain to comprehend. Sometimes I read all that old stuff and realise belatedly that it's mine. ._. Then I feel sad. I can't reproduce all that even if my life depended on it.

AND.

....aaaah. *laugh* Sometimes, it's hard to look at present writing in the, er, present tense, as it were... I bet you'll look back at your own stuff in a couple of years and go, "Hey, I wish I could write like this now!"

...really? *laugh* Would you be okay with making me a Mari icon? http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v11/lain578/tairamari2.jpg <--here's a picture; I'd love a snarky caption, if you've got one in mind. ^_~

1] Fanfic, original, RP, research papers... I do it all! XDDD

2] I totally reread my stuff. Mostly to see what I've done so far. XD And sometimes just cuz I'm bored.

3] I don't know why. D= It makes me happy? Or embarrassed, depending on the fic. XD

RP! *laugh* I was RPing with my friends, over the past few days... it really made me remember how much love I have for gaming. <3

Indeed, nothing like one's own writing to make one happy.. or embarrassed. ^_~
